For those of you who may have installed/updated QuestHelper of late, your account may be at risk.

This is cross-posted from our main forums, for all of our visitors, guests, and friends.

Update - Confirmed.

It has come to my attention that players of WoW who downloaded the Quest Helper addon from Curse since Wrath release (particularly any release that said it was Wrath compatible) may be infected with at least a variant of the trojan ZLob. This infection is responsible in part for a quickly-growing spread of compromised accounts.

"I've been hacked! Did this do it?" - If you have updated Quest Helper recently, most likely, sad to say. D:

"What do I do?!" - Please refer to the stickies at the top of the forum. Additionally, you'll need to try to gain control of the account from a clean machine, through changing the registered email address to a new one, and then changing your WoW password. If you are unable to do this through the site, please contact Billing as soon as possible to claim the account. ( You may contact Billing between the hours of 8AM and 8PM PST, Monday through Friday. 1-800-592-5499 )

Then, send off an email to wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com to get restoration started. In the mean time, please clean your machine, either by scanning for the infection, or reformatting, and consider getting an Authenticator.

A quick explanation - The automated Curse Client should have had no part in this. Be it the client or a manual install, the infection was found to be residing in the Zip file containing what was thought to be the addon - users who downloaded this addon and logged in also report being stuck in Dalaran and unable to log back into affected characters, extensive lag issues, et cetera.

This is not a cause of the actual addon itself. Please do not direct any questions to the creator of Quest Helper, as it is probably not their doing.

Orlyia, I'm hearing from some that people who were downloading the newest version of Quest Helper (can't determine which site) have all been reporting being compromised in the same fashion - via e-mail and WoW account, swiftly. There is a rumor going around that this version of the addon is tainted with a keylogger, though the actual addon itself (Lua script) is not. Possible explanation for the recent influx of accounts being compromised?
